Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness Day 2021: 50,000 Readers, Teal Lights and I’m Turning 30!
October 7th 2021 is Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness Day 2021; the world is lighting up in teal and I have amassed 50 thousand readers.
In May, I thought it would be nice if there were some teal lights around the UK on October 7th, on some famous landmarks, to raise awareness on our day of the year and also to put a smile on some people’s faces. It turns out, there is already a fantastic team of people across the globe that do this every year! So, this year, I joined the amazing people at TNnMe to light up the globe in teal on the 7th.
October 7th 2021 also happens to be my 30th birthday. I’ve had my blog for 5 years and my neuralgia for over 6 years. I’m a mum and I’m entering my thirties! I always thought you were a grown up when you got to this age, but I’m still muddling through just the same.
The most important thing that’s happened to me this month, is that I’ve hit 50k readers on this blog. I remember getting my first view. I find it absolutely impossible to comprehend that amount of people. That’s more than a stadium full of people that have all stumbled across my little blog, made even more special by the fact that you all know how I feel.
No one is browsing this blog for fun, like they would a travel or fashion magazine. You are all reading this because you’re in pain and you’re here with me.
I am so grateful for everyone who reads along, messages me, emails me, comments and shares your experiences with me and this community. I can’t thank you enough for being here beside me, whilst I struggle with my pain.
Thank you, from the very bottom of my heart.
On TN Awareness Day 2021, here are some things you can do to raise awareness for our rare disease:
- Make a donation to the TNA UK
- Share a link to one of my blog posts or another blog you enjoy on social media
- Wear teal and tell people why
- Take a picture of a building you see lit up in teal and send it to your friends
- Be open and talk about your pain with someone you know
